Due to an expanding portfolio of offshore wind farm projects the commissioning function in RWE Renewables are looking for a HV Safety Rules Implementation Manager with direct experience of implementing and leading a team responsible for managing HV safety during the construction phase and continue through into Operation were you will become the HV Operation Manager (DAP).
The role will specifically be responsible for the Thor wind-farm MV System and the transmission HV system from the Offshore substation to the Onshore Grid boundary and is based in Denmark.
As a HV Safety Rules Implementation Manager you will be responsible for the development and implementation of the Safety Rules, working procedures, training and authorisation process and recruitment of a team of technicians to operate the HV system for the respective project.
The role will report to the Windfarm Commissioning Manager and interface with engineers preparing the technical specifications, operations and maintenance representatives, package managers and interface engineers. When the project completes the commissioning phase the role will transition into the Operations business.

In addition, the role will support projects that are progressing through the Development and Planning Phase of the project delivery cycle. The objective of this support is to ensure that the projects’ commissioning strategy will enable the commissioning of the offshore windfarm, as it is technically described in the concept during that phase, and that the contracts for constructing and commissioning the windfarm incorporates employer requirement for implementing HV Safety Rules.The HV Safety Rules Implementation Manager will be responsible for:
- Development and Management of Site Specific HV Safety Rules & related Procedures
- Management of Grid control interface relating to system requirements and cross boundary working
- Support recruitment of and the management of SAPs
- Perform Control Engineer function (on rotation)
- Undertake duties as Lead SAP
- Incident investigation, network fault support and call out.
- Support the project with commissioning technical expertise during all phases of the project.
- Ensuring the project is commissioned to programme.
- Working with the project packages to manage commissioning across package/contract interfaces.
- Management of programme interface risks to minimise risk of contractor claims for time and/or cost.
- Enable a smooth transition of critical resources into the Operations Phase
About you who are applying for the role
In order for the applicant to enjoy the role, we would like you to have a high level of technical understanding of the components of Electrical Power Systems e.g. HV substations, HV networks and Wind Turbine Generators to efficiently resolve the complex problems that can occur with these assets.
You have a good proven track record in a Grid & Transmission commissioning environment and demonstrable experience of implementation of HV Safety Rules.
In addition to the above, we would also like you to have:
- Experience of training/authorising persons to work within HV installations
- Qualifications to a degree level in an engineering discipline or equivalent.
- Demonstrable team leadership and project/engineering management skills.
- Experience of HV/LV plant, protection systems and network operations.
- Excellent communication skills at all levels, fluent in Danish and good English language skills
- Experience of maintenance planning
- Experience of marine safety and logistics useful.
- Flexible to travel and occasional working offshore
In this role you can either be based at our head office for Denmark in Copenhagen or in Thorsmide which will be the base for Thor.
